Challenge

Inspired by our recent research work on natural-language processing (NLP) and the public discourse around Lensa.ai’s generative portraits at the end of 2022, I pitched a business development and futures design project around generative AI. We narrowed the focus specifically to K-12 education.

Leveraging insights from past research projects about AI and Gen Z, I wanted to showcase our capabilities in foresight and responsible product development in AI. I worked with the company leads to identify target industries, clients, and capabilities to generate and win new business.

Result

A whitepaper with scenarios and critical considerations to bring risks and opportunities to life through scenarios and edtech product concepts using AI. Read the full whitepaper here. Scenario names and creative direction were changed in the final piece.

Process

I designed, developed, and led studio-wide workshops, defined potential audiences for the work and critical concerns, conducted signals research, developed each product concept and accompanying narrative scenario, and steered the original creative direction for the piece.

We focused on audiences who included potential clients and partners (ed tech companies designing products, policy and nonprofit partners making funding decisions and recommendations) and stakeholders (educators and students impacted by AI in tech) and developed the language and approach accordingly.

The scenarios followed four arcs of change from Dator’s Four Futures and brought ethical challenges to life, while showing how we could create technologies that support equity, flourishing, and connection.
